Photography Workshops
With Erhan Meço

İzmir, with its thousands of years of history, blends Eastern and Western cultures on its streets and has a multicultural social mosaic. Reflecting this mosaic onto the pixels of our cameras while telling the story of the city and its people is a truly special experience.

My workshops aim to capture the life of İzmir and its people in their natural flow. It is an experience built on seeing and storytelling, away from artificial staging. With more than 20 years of photography experience, over 10 years of teaching photography, and the knowledge I’ve gained from numerous workshops both in Türkiye and abroad, my goal is to guide you through the city while also helping you develop your photographic skills.

  • A One-on-One Workshop Experience

We explore the city either only with you or with up to two of your friends, fully tailored to your style, pace, and areas of interest. We can also include historical sites outside the city in the workshop.

  • In-Depth Knowledge of the City and Its History

I was born right in the heart of the places I’ll be guiding you through, and I still live here. I have photographed almost every street of this city many times. I know exactly where the photographs are and how to create them.

  • Expertise in All Camera Brands and Models

Since I actively work as a photography instructor, I’m familiar with all major camera brands and models. I can help you quickly and accurately with your camera settings.

  • Leica-Focused Guidance

As a Leica user, I can design the workshop in a way that helps other Leica owners get the most out of their cameras. However, owning a Leica is absolutely not a requirement.

What We
Offer

Photographing The Streets of Izmir

I can guide you through the streets of İzmir, one of Turkey’s and the world’s most important ancient port cities; show you its multicultural neighborhoods and exotic bazaars; let you taste its unique local cuisine; and, while doing all this, help you take amazing photos and improve your street photography skills.

Thinking Seeing and Photographing Izmir in Black & White

Black and white photography is a matter of abstract thinking and foresight. I can guide you through İzmir while prioritizing black & white photography, teaching you Light & Shadow, Structure, Form, and other design elements, and helping you practice them along the way.

Abroad Workshops in İstanbul, Venice And Prag

I’m not only experienced in photographing İzmir; you can also trust me when it comes to photographing Istanbul, many other cities in Türkiye, as well as European cities such as Venice, Rome, Florence, Barcelona, Prague, and Berlin. We can meet in one of these cities and explore their photographic secrets together.

Photographing Stray Animals in İzmir

İzmir and its people have an inseparable relationship with street animals. Shop owners leave food and water at their doors for street cats and dogs, and some even take them inside their shops. I can help you photograph this unique bond between the city, its people, and animals that is special to both Turkey and İzmir.

Photographing Historical Sites Around and Outside The City

İzmir is a very ancient city that has hosted many civilizations. I can take you to places within the city such as Kemeraltı, Basmane, and the Agora, as well as sites outside the city like Ephesus and Pergamon, helping you capture impressive photographs along the way.

Mentoring and Photo Editing

We can review your İzmir photographs together on a powerful computer where you can easily process high-resolution images, select the best ones, and edit them.
